Diagnose Rheuma. Das zieht einem zunächst erstmal den Boden unter den Füßen weg. Im letzten Moment war man noch kerngesund mit ein paar Problemchen, die aber sicherlich bald wieder behoben werden, und im nächsten Augenblick hat mein eine unheilbare Krankheit, on nun an das ganze Leben prägen wird. Für mich stellte sich nur eine Frage: Was nun?
Ich hatte damals das Glück, dass meine Eltern mir mit Rat und Tat zur Seite stehen und mich durch diese schwierige Zeit lenken konnten. Dieser Blogbeitrag richtet sich an alle, die dieses Glück nicht haben und natürlich an alle Eltern von erkrankten Kindern, die in dieser Situation genauso wenig wissen, was zu tun ist, wie wir damals.
Schritt 1: Begib dich in kompetente Hände
Zunächst einmal ist es besonders wichtig, dass du eine Rheumatologin oder einen Rheumatologen findest, bei der/dem du dich wohlfühlst. Natürlich spielt Kompetenz dabei eine große Rolle, aber ihr solltet euch eben auch menschlich verstehen. Darüberhinaus finde ich es auch sehr wichtig, dass die Praxis gut organisiert ist, denn ihr werdet sehr viel Kontakt haben: Termine verschieben, Rezepte abholen, Laborwerte kontrollieren et cetera.
Viele werden denken: „leichter gesagt als getan“. Denn viele niedergelassene RheumatologInnen sind total überlastet und können keine weiteren Patienten aufnehmen. Mein Tipp: Frag immer mal wieder nach und versucht es bei mehreren Praxen, vielleicht auch in der Nachbarstadt. Darüber hinaus haben viele städtische Krankenhäuser einen rheumatologischen Bereich, dort kannst du auch einfach mal nachfragen. Und, was ich sowieso empfehle, lass dich in eine Fachklinik überweisen.
Schritt 2: Geh in eine Fachklinik
Es gibt verschiedene Fachkliniken für Rheumatologie in Deutschland. Mein Tipp ist es, unabhängig davon ob du bereits eine RheumatologIn gefunden hast, stationär in eine Fachklinik zu gehen. Meist dauert ein solcher Aufenthalt 7 – 14 Tage und beinhaltet ein breites Paket an Untersuchungen und Therapien.

Schritt 3: Führe Protokoll
Ich weiß es klingt wie Zeitverschwendung in einer stressigen Zeit. Aber deine Schmerzen und generellen Gesundheitsstatus täglich zu protokollieren wird sich zu einem wirksamen Werkzeug für dich herausstellen. So behältst du den Überblick darüber wie es dir geht und ob sich dein Zustand verbessert oder verschlechtert.
Wenn du zusätzlich notierst wann du welches Medikament einnimmst, dann kannst du ganz einfach auswerten welche Medikamente dir gut helfen und welche eher nicht. Vergiss nicht diese Aufzeichnungen irgendwo abzulegen, wo du sie gut wiederfindest. Denn ich habe schon mehrmals in früheren Aufzeichnungen von mir nachgeschaut, wie gut ein Medikament bei mir gewirkt hat.
Tipp: Schreibe auch die Nebenwirkungen von Medikamenten mit auf und Gründe, weshalb du sie möglicherweise absetzen musstest. Wenn du es Jahre später mal wieder nehmen sollst, weißt du so gleich, worauf du achten musst.
Schritt 4: Entwickle ein Ablagesystem für Unterlagen
Meist fängt man zu spät damit an und dann ist das Chaos schon da. Du wirst ab jetzt bei verschiedensten Ärzten sein und ständig irgendwelche Laborwerte und Arztbriefe erhalten. Überlege dir schon jetzt ein geeignetes Ablagesystem, digital oder in Papierform, um jederzeit alle notwendigen Unterlagen parat zu haben.
Generell empfiehlt es sich bei Arztterminen immer die aktuellsten Laborwerte als Kopie dabei zu haben. Man weiß die, wen sie interessieren.
Schritt 5: Schreibe deine Krankheitsgeschichte nieder
Und hier ein Spezialtipp meiner Mutter, der schon in vielen Situationen gut angekommen ist: Schreib deine Krankheitsgeschichte auf. Dabei solltest du alle typischen Fragen beantworten, die die bei diversen Arztterminen gestellt werden:
Wann sind die ersten Symptome aufgetreten? Wie haben sich die Symptome entwickelt? Gibt es eine ähnliche Diagnosen in der Familie? Gab es gesundheitliche Auffälligkeiten in der Kindheit? Welche Medikamente wurden bereits eingenommen?
Du solltest diese Liste stets aktuell halten und bei einem Termin mit einer neuen ÄrztIn parat halten.
Schritt 6: Informiere dich über die Krankheit
Um zu wissen, was die Erkrankung für dich und dein Leben bedeutet, solltest du zunächst die Krankheit verstehen. Mach dir bewusst, was genau in deinem Körper passiert und warum das passiert. In meinem Beitrag Rheuma – was passiert da eigentlich? kannst du dich genau darüber informieren.
Informiere dich außerdem über mögliche Medikamente, die dir helfen können. So behältst du den Überblick darüber welche Möglichkeiten dir noch offen stehen und welche du bereits ausprobiert hast. Auch hierzu findest du einen Blockbeitrag unter Rheuma – welche Therapiemöglichkeiten gibt es?.
Schritt 7: Krankheitsbewältigung
Nachdem du nun die wichtigsten Schritte zur Handlung eingeleitet hast, solltest du nun einmal zur Ruhe kommen und dich um deine Psyche kümmern. Die Diagnose einer unheilbaren Erkrankung zu erhalten ist immer hart, egal worum es sich handelt. Ab jetzt ist es für dich besonders wichtig auch darauf zu achten wie es dir emotional geht.
Nimm dir also einen Termin mit dir selbst. Koche dir einen Tee, setze dich in die gemütlichste Ecke deines Zuhauses, schalte das Handy aus, schnapp die Zettel und Stift und schreibe auf: Wie fühlst du dich mit der Diagnose? Was beschäftigt dich? Welche Sorgen und Ängste hast du? Ziel ist es, einfach mal ganz tief in dich hinein zu horchen und deine Gedanken zu ordnen.

Schritt 8: Entwickle Routinen und Gewohnheiten
Vermutlich hast du jetzt schon seit einiger Zeit die rheumatischen Beschwerden, wirst mit verschiedenen Therapien behandelt und es stellt sich eine gewisse Routine ein. Jetzt, wo der anfängliche Stress nachlässt und man merkt, wir stark einen die Krankheit wirklich einschränkt, ist es wichtig selbst in die Handlung zu kommen.
Überlege dir eigene Routinen und Strategien, um dir selbst zu helfen. Ich für meinen Teil entwickle immer mal wieder neue Gewohnheiten, denn ich probiere immer mal wieder etwas Neues aus. Das kann zum Beispiel sein, dass ich mich jeden Abend vor dem Schlagen 5-10 Minuten dehne, um alle möglichen Verspannungen im Körper zu lösen. Oder ich überlege mir, wie ich damit umgehe, wenn ich mal einen richtig schmerzreichen Tag habe.

Schritt 9: Reflektiere deine unternommenen Schritte
Nachdem du nun schon sehr viel getan hast in Sachen Rheumaorganisation, hilft es sich einen Moment Zeit zu nehmen und zu reflektieren. Bist du mit deiner Therapie zufrieden? Bist du mit deiner RheumatologIn zufrieden? Klappt die tägliche Protokollierung? Funktioniert dein Ablagesystem für dich? Wie weit bist du in Sachen Krankheitsbewältigung? Welche Routinen funktionieren gut, welche eher weniger?
Überlege dir genau, was für dich gut funktioniert und was eher weniger. Wichtig ist es, dass du eine langfristige Strategie entwickelst, die zu dir passt. Denn was dir hilft ist individuell und kannst nur die bewerten.
Schritt 10: Bleib am Ball
Die Bewältigung einer chronischen Erkrankung ist kein Sprint und auch kein Marathon, sondern ein beständiger Weg. Es gibt kein direktes Ziel, vielmehr gilt es immer auf dem für dich richtigen Weg zu bleiben. Was du jetzt für dich herausgefunden hast, wird vielleicht nicht immer so bleiben. Es gilt, deine eigenen Strategien immer wieder zu hinterfragen und gegebenenfalls anzupassen. Probiere neue Dinge aus, denn das Bessere ist ja bekanntlich der Feind des Guten.
